Prof. Jiann-Ruey Hong | Mitochondria | Best Researcher Award
National Cheng Kung University | Taiwan
Prof. Jiann-Ruey Hong is a highly accomplished molecular virologist whose work has significantly advanced the understanding of virus–host interactions, mitochondrial dysfunction, and programmed cell death pathways in aquatic and mammalian systems. His research centers on RNA viruses, betanodavirus pathogenesis, ROS-mediated signaling, autophagy–apoptosis crosstalk, and mitochondrial disruption during viral infection, establishing foundational insights into how viruses manipulate host cellular machinery. With a prolific scientific output spanning more than two decades, he has contributed extensively to virology, immunology, fish pathology, and molecular cell biology through numerous high-impact SCI papers, reviews, and book chapters. His global scientific influence is reflected in strong citation metrics, including 1,987 Scopus citations, 61 Scopus-indexed documents, and an h-index of 27, alongside over 2,400 Google Scholar citations, 22+ indexed documents, and an h-index of 15. He serves on editorial boards of multiple international journals covering oncology, virology, molecular biology, and cell death research, while also contributing as a guest editor and reviewer for more than 90 reputable journals. His recognition by international scientific bodies, biography listings, and prestigious lifetime achievement awards highlights his standing in the global research community. His work continues to impact viral immunology, antiviral strategy development, and fish health sciences, offering new directions for understanding host defense signaling and designing therapeutic approaches against viral diseases.
